Ethan Rall‘s defensive play helped Rutgers secure a win that was a long time coming.
The Team 91 2018 Extreme alum by way of Islip was a force yet again for the Scarlet Knights. This time, the dynamic LSM forced three turnovers and secured a pair of ground balls to lead Rutgers to a 12-5 win over Lehigh in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It marked the Scarlet Knights’ first tournament win since 1990. Rutgers moves on to play top-seeded North Carolina, a 16-4 winner over Monmouth.
’19 Orange Justin Tiernan (Glenn) led Lehigh with a pair of goals and a ground ball, while ’18 Extreme defenseman Anthony Tangredi (Chaminade) chipped in a ground ball.

’18 Extreme Owen Caputo (Middle Creek, N.C.) and ’20 Crush Brennan O’Neill (St. Anthony’s) each fired home a pair of goals to lead the Blue Devils. O’Neill also chipped in an assist, a ground ball and a caused turnover. ’19 Orange LSM Tyler Carpenter (Salisbury, Conn.) vacuumed up five ground balls, ’18 Extreme Jordan Ginder (Brunswick, Conn.) won his lone faceoff and grabbed the ground ball in the process, and ’19 Orange defenseman Kenny Brower grabbed a pair of ground balls.
Duke advances to play Loyola in the quarterfinals.
Georgetown 18, Syracuse 8
’17 Joe LiCalzi (South Side) dislodged a pair of turnovers, corralled two ground balls and helped keep a powerful Syracuse offense at bay as the Hoyas hammered the Orange. Georgetown moves on to square off with Virginia in the quarterfinals.

’17 Ian Laviano (Cold Spring Harbor) netted two goals, added an assist, scooped up two ground balls and caused a turnover to help the ‘Hoos fend off Bryant’s upset bid. UVA squares off with Georgetown next.
