AJ Galassi came through in the nick of time for Port Washington.
The Cornell-bound Team 91 2019 Orange goalie made eight saves in Wednesday’s 6-5 win over Locust Valley, none more important than his denial with two seconds left in the game to seal the win.
Galassi has been on a tear for Port Washington in the early going, making 37 saves in three games for a 60.7 save percentage.
Calhoun 8, East Meadow 5: Nick Turrini (’19 Orange/Army) continued his torrid early-season pace with four goals and an assist and Kyle Munson (’19 Orange/Drexel) stopped nine shots as Calhoun moved to 4-0. Chris Barry (’21 Blaze) dished out a pair of assists for East Meadow.
Harborfields 8, Eastport-South Manor 6: Nick Caccamo (’20 Crush/Yale) had an assist and spearheaded a defensive unit that only ceded a pair of second-half goals to secure the Harborfields victory. Ryan Huff (’19 Orange/Penn State) had a goal and two helpers in the loss, while Michael Katz (’22 Smash) scored once.
Glenn 18, Center Moriches 5: Justin Tiernan (’19 Orange/Lehigh) was unstoppable again for Glenn, this time pairing a whopping eight assists to go with a hat trick, and Cory Capri (’20 Orange) tucked in two goals to go with three dimes as Glenn cruised.
Mount Sinai 16, Mattituck 7: Joey Spallina (’20 Crush/’22 Smash) was out of this world again, tossing out eight assists to go with a hat trick, while Brandon Ventarola (’21 Blaze) added a hat trick and Kevin Sweeney (’20 Crush)went 16-for-24 at the faceoff X as the Mustangs rolled. Tyler Gatz (’21 Blaze) also added an assist. Dane Reda (’20 Crush) scored once for Mattituck.
Bayport-Blue Point 10, Sayville 4: James Ringer (’19 Orange/Rutgers) distributed four assists to go with two goals and Jameson Smith (’22 Smash) found the back of the net three times as BBP rolled.
St. Dominic 16, Herricks 11: Anthony Sand (’20 Orange/VMI) bagged five goals as St. Dom’s won its second straight.
Shoreham-Wading River 18, Rocky Point 1: Xavier Arline (’20 Crush/North Carolina) tallied six times and set up four more goals, Alec Gregorek (’22 Smash) and Johnny Schwarz (’21 Blaze) ripped home hat tricks and Gavin Gregorek (’20 Crush/Navy) tallied once and handed out an assist as the Wildcats cruised.
Comsewogue 18, Miller Place 1: Aiden McCaffrey (’21 Blaze) had an assist and paced a stingy defensive unit and Mason Oak (’21 Blaze) added a save in relief for Comsewogue.
Westhampton 9, Half Hollow Hills West 7: Christian Mulé (’19 Orange/Duke) handed out two helpers and scored once, while Danny Zabbia (’21 Ambush) scored twice and Justin Brown (’20 Crush/Michigan) added a goal for Hills West.
Long Island Lutheran 18, Stony Brook School 4: Jackson Green (’23 Bandits) set up four goals and scored one of his own as Lutheran hammered SBS. Nicholas Jaferis (’23 Warriors) had a goal in the loss.
