Mac Rodriguez is far from a FOGO.
The Team 91 2021 Blaze and Chaminade faceoff midfielder, a Yale commit, doesn’t need to get off the field after he wins at the faceoff X. He proved that again Thursday by racking up a hat trick to lead the Flyers to an 11-10 win over Iona Prep.
’21 Ambush Trey Berry (RPI) and ’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Navy) each scored once for Chaminade. The Flyers next clash with rival St. Anthony’s next Tuesday.
Smithtown East 17, Whitman 9
Much like his running mate Rodriguez, ’21 Blaze Chris Cappelmann (Cornell) is a problem for defenses after the faceoff win. Cappelmann put forth a three-goal, two-assist day for Smithtown East, which also got a monster one-goal, five-assist day from ’22 Smash Marcus Wertheim (Brown).
Connetquot 7, Sachem North 5
’23 Bandits Tyler McCarthy led the charge for Connetquot with four goals and ’23 Warriors Tyler Moore added two of his own to lead the Thunderbirds.

St. Anthony’s 14, Kellenberg 1
’23 Bandits Owen Duffy racked up a two-goal, three-assist day and ’21 Andrew McAdorey (Duke) scored twice and chipped in an assist as the Friars rolled.
’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio had an assist for St. Anthony’s, which got four saves from ’22 Smash Kevin Barrett (Boston U) in split duty.
Northport 14, Riverhead 5
’21 Ambush Ryan McCarthy (Siena) was the ringleader for Northport, scoring once and setting up two more goals in the blowout. ’21 Ambush Conner Gallagher (Cortland) tacked on an assist
Ward Melville 13, Lindenhurst 1
’21 Blaze Chris Simonton (Providence) led a balanced Patriots’ offense with a goal and two helpers. ’23 Bandits Nikolas Barbero added an assist.
Bay Shore 9, Commack 8
’24 Wolfpack Luke Breslin made a heck of an impression in his first varsity game, burying four goals for Commack.
