Syracuse is back on top of the ACC.

Backed by a combined goal and six assists from all-tournament selection Team 91 2022 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai), the Orange beat Notre Dame, 14-12, and Duke, 9-8, to win the program’s first ACC championship since 2016.

Spallina had four assists in the semifinals before scoring once and setting up two more in the final. He also added two ground balls and two takeaways in the final. ’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) dished out two assists against the Irish before scoring once and adding two assists and a ground ball against the Blue Devils. ’20 Crush defenseman Nick Caccamo (Harborfields) and ’23 Bandits Tyler McCarthy (Connetquot) each secured a pair of ground balls in the semifinals. McCarthy tallied once in the final.

Duke made it to the championship game with a 14-7 rout of rival North Carolina. ’20 Crush Andrew McAdorey (St. Anthony’s) put forth matching two-goal, one-assist days for the Blue Devils. He also tacked on a ground ball in the championship. ’21 Blaze SSDM Jake Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) picked up two ground balls to go with a caused turnover in the semifinal.

’22 Smash Brock Behrman (Salisbury, Conn. / two ground balls) and Bandits Jordan Faison (Pine Crest, Fla. / one ground ball) each scored once for the Irish. Notre Dame also got two ground balls and a takeaway from ’19 Orange defenseman Greg Campisi (St. Anthony’s).

’23 Bandits Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) had a goal, an assist and a caused turnover for the Tar Heels. Carolina also got a trio of ground balls from ’20 Crush Ryan Levy (East Chapel Hill, N.C. / Taft, Conn.).

America East

’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point) earned America East Most Outstanding Player Award after stopping 13 shots and causing a pair of turnovers for the champion Great Danes in the championship game. That came on the heels of a nine-save, one-takeaway day in the semis.

’22 Smash defenseman Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.), fresh off of being named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, shined bright again for Albany. Neeson scored twice, took the ball away twice and added a ground ball in the title game. That was after a two-caused turnover, two-ground ball day in the semis.

’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) set up two goals and added one of his own in the semifinals. ’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) dished out a helper in the semis.

’21 Ambush Ryan McCarthy (Northport) picked up a spot on the all-tournament team after leading the Saints to their first MAAC championship since 2014.

McCarthy set up five goals and picked up three ground balls in the final after scoring twice and setting up three more in the semis. McCarthy’s goals came in the nick of time, too. He tied the game with 9:47 to play and pocketed the game-winner with 1:43 to play in the game. ’24 Wolfpack SSDM Ryan Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) snatched up three ground balls and caused a turnover in the championship.

’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) vacuumed up four ground balls and took the ball away once for the Red Foxes. ’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) scooped up two ground balls and pilfered one takeaway for Marist.

’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) paced the Bobcats with two goals, three takeaways and four ground balls. ’23 Bandits LSM Glenn Platania (St. Anthony’s) scored once and set up a goal for the second straight game. He also caused a turnover. ’21 Blaze goalie Mason Oak (Comsewogue) denied 16 shots and snagged a pair of ground balls.

CAA

’23 Warriors Ronan Fitzpatrick earned a spot on the all-tournament team with a combined seven goals, two assists and three ground balls as the Tigers won the CAA for the second straight year. Fitzpatrick popped off for five goals and a ground ball in the final after a two-goal, two-assist, two-ground ball day in the semifinal.

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) doled out an assist and grabbed a ground ball for the Pride in the semifinal. ’21 Blaze SSDM Chris Barry (East Meadow) snatched up a ground ball for Hofstra.

’20 Crush faceoff midfielder Koby Ginder (Brunswick, Conn.) had a faceoff win for the Tigers in the Ivy League final.

’23 Bandits Jack Speidell (St. Anthony’s) buried a hat trick, added an assist and scooped up five ground balls for the Crimson.

’19 White goalie Jared Paquette (West Islip) denied 14 shots sent his way and picked up two ground balls in his career finale for the Bulldogs. ’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Machado Rodriguez (Chaminade) won a trio of faceoffs and picked up two ground balls for Yale.

Patriot League

’24 Wolfpack Ben Morris (Bayport-Blue Point) racked up a goal and an assist in both games for the Terriers. He also collected a ground ball in the semifinal win over Lafayette. ’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce (Bayport-Blue Point) caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball against the Leopards.

’21 Blaze Matt Keegan (Sachem North) netted a hat trick and added an assist to push the Terps into the Big Ten final.

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) dished out two assists for the Scarlet Knights.

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.), recently tabbed the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, handed out a helper for the Nittany Lions.

’21 Blaze defenseman AJ Volkmann (Mount Sinai) snared a ground ball for the Sharks.

’19 Orange Andrew Giovinco (Syosset) was dominant for the Rams, scoring a hat trick in both games to lead Farmingdale to its second straight Skyline title. Giovinco also had an assist in the semifinals while adding four ground balls and a takeaway in the championship.

’23 Warriors defenseman Ryan Thorne‘s (Newfield) three-ground ball, one-caused turnover effort boosted USMMA into the final. He added a pair of ground balls in the title game.

’24 Wolfpack Ryan Hannaford (Bayport-Blue Point) posted a three-goal, two-assist, two-ground ball stat line for the Privateers.

’21 Ambush Sam Rothman (Half Hollow Hills East) was a force for the Red Dragons en route to earning an all-tournament nod. Rothman scored three times and added two assists in the semifinal rout of Potsdam. He added two goals, an assist, a ground ball and a takeaway in the championship.

’21 Ambush LSM Conner Gallagher (Northport) vacuumed up a trio of ground balls for Cortland in the title game.

’21 Ambush Andrew Tittmann (Northport) made 10 saves to backstop Geneseo into the semifinals. He added 14 saves and three ground balls against Nazareth.

’24 Menace faceoff midfielder Aidan Stanton (Massapequa) won a pair of faceoffs against Alfred.

NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan 13, Denison 10

’24 Menace LSM Khari Freeman (Poly Prep) scooped up two ground balls for Denison.
