As a lockdown short-stick defensive midfielder, Chris Barry doesn’t get many opportunities to score. Saturday, he got the chance, and the Team 91 2021 Blaze alum by way of East Meadow made sure to take advantage… twice.

Barry canned his first two career goals to go with two ground balls as Hofstra rolled past Delaware, 17-10.

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) continued his outstanding junior campaign with five assists and two goals for the Pride. Hofstra rang up its third consecutive victory.

Maryland 13, Penn State 8

’21 Blaze Matt Keegan (Sachem North) helped the Terps pick up an important Big Ten win with two goals and two assists.

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) sniped a pair of goals for the Nittany Lions.

’23 Bandits Jack Speidell (St. Anthony’s) was a goal-scoring force once again. Speidell tallied five goals in each of the Crimson’s wins, complete with two ground balls against the Bearcats. ’23 Bandits Jackson Greene (St. Anthony’s) tallied his first goal of the year against Binghamton after missing time due to injury.

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce (Bayport-Blue Point) pocketed his first career goal for the Terriers in the win over the Crusaders. He added four ground balls in that game after picking up two and causing a turnover against Harvard. ’24 Wolfpack Ben Morris (Bayport-Blue Point) posted matching one-goal, one-assist days for BU.

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Aidan McMinn (Ward Melville) secured his first career ground ball for the Bearcats.

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) scored in both games for the Bonnies and added an assist against the Bearcats. He also popped up a combined five ground balls.

Albany 17, UMass-Lowell 6

’22 Smash defenseman Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) scored for the third time this year and also took the ball away once to lead the Great Danes’ stingy defensive effort.

’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) tallied twice and picked up a ground ball in the win. Albany got nine saves and a ground ball from ’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point)’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) scooped up two ground balls to round out the victory.

’23 Warriors Owen McIntee (St. Anthony’s) won nine of 13 faceoffs, complete with four ground balls, for the Riverhawks.

Notre Dame 14, Duke 7

’19 Orange defenseman Greg Campisi (St. Anthony’s) vacuumed up three ground balls and dislodged a turnover to pace the Irish’s fierce defensive effort. ’23 Bandits Jordan Faison (Pine Crest, Fla.) collected a goal for Notre Dame.

’20 Crush Andrew McAdorey (St. Anthony’s) led the Blue Devils with two goals and an assist.

Siena 16, Merrimack 8
Siena 12, Mount St. Mary’s 8

’21 Ambush Ryan McCarthy (Northport) was at his playmaking best for the Saints. McCarthy handed out a ridiculous six assists, complete with a goal, two ground balls and a takeaway in the win over Merrimack. He followed it up with two more helpers against the Mount.

’23 Bandits Niko Barbero (Ward Melville) handed out an assist for his point of the season. ’24 Wolfpack SSDM Ryan Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) picked up two ground balls in the win over the Mount.

Syracuse 12, Virginia 10

’23 Bandits SSDM Jake Spallina (Mount Sinai) had a crucial takeaway late in the fourth quarter that led to the game-winning goal as the Orange stormed back to beat the Cavaliers.

’20 Crush defenseman Nick Caccamo (Harborfields) was a force on the back end with four ground balls and two caused turnovers for ‘Cuse. ’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) netted a hat trick to go with a ground ball. ’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) set up a goal, picked up three ground balls and took the ball away once. ’20 Crush Tyler Cordes (Connetquot) added a ground ball for the Orange.

Army 13, North Carolina 12

’23 Bandits Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) nearly willed the Tar Heels past the Black Knights with three goals, three assists and a ground ball in a top-10 showdown. ’20 Crush Ryan Levy (East Chapel Hill, N.C. / Taft, Conn.) scored twice for Carolina.

Yale 15, Brown 12

’22 Smash defenseman Patrick Pisano (Cold Spring Harbor) celebrated his return to the lineup with an assist and two ground balls to help the Bulldogs snap a two-game skid. ’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Mac Rodriguez (Chaminade) won nine faceoffs, complete with six ground balls and a caused turnover.

’22 Smash Marcus Wertheim (Smithtown East) picked up a ground ball for the Bears.

Stony Brook 17, Fairfield 16

’22 Smash Jaden Baldwin (St. Dominic) picked up two ground balls to help the Seawolves hand the Stags their first loss.

Princeton 11, Dartmouth 8

’20 Crush faceoff midfielder Koby Ginder (Brunswick, Conn.) won a faceoff and picked up a ground ball in the process to pace the Tigers.

’21 Blaze Brandon Ventarola (Trinity-Pawling) secured a ground ball for the Big Green.

Colgate 14, Navy 9

’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) returned from injury to supply a pair of assists to go with a goal and a ground ball for the Midshipmen. ’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s) scored twice and picked up a ground ball for Navy.

’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) picked up three ground balls, caused two turnovers and scored a goal in the Red Foxes’ win. ’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) dislodged a pair of takeaways to go with a ground ball. McCaffrey added a half-dozen ground balls and caused two turnovers against Sacred Heart. Cassano tacked on two ground balls and caused a turnover in that game.

Iona 12, Quinnipiac 8

’21 Blaze goalie Mason Oak (Comsewogue) made 12 and five saves (one ground ball), respectively for the Bobcats. ’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai) scored once and added a ground ball against Iona after chipping in an assist against Iona. ’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) scored in both games, adding an assist against Manhattan and two ground balls against Iona. ’23 Bandits LSM Glenn Platania (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball against the Gaels.

Towson 12, Drexel 8

’23 Warriors Ronan Fitzpatrick (Sayville) netted a goal as the Tigers picked up their third straight win.

Marquette 13, St. John’s 8

’19 Orange SSDM Nick Turrini (Calhoun) ripped home his first career college goal.

Michigan 11, Johns Hopkins 8

’23 Bandits LSM Luke Martin (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball for the Blue Jays.

Ohio State 13, Rutgers 11

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) secured a pair of ground balls for the Scarlet Knights.

Wagner 12, LIU 11

’23 Warriors goalie Brayden Wilcken (Mount Sinai) stopped 14 shots for the Sharks. ’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and won his lone faceoff for LIU.

UMass 11, Saint Joseph’s 10

’23 Warriors Tyler Moore (Connetquot) picked up a ground ball for the Hawks.

Mercer 12, Queens 11

’21 Blaze Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) won a dozen faceoffs, collected eight ground balls, caused a turnover and doled out an assist to help the Bears fend off Queens.

Adelphi 27, Southern New Hampshire 5

’24 Wolfpack Brett Oppenheim (Mount Sinai) won his first five career faceoffs in six attempts, complete with two ground balls, as Adelphi rolled.

Pace 18, St. Michael’s 6

’21 Ambush Danny Zabbia (Half Hollow Hills West) continued his standout senior year with two goals, three assists and a pair of ground balls as the Setters cruised.

Division III

Denison 12, York 11
Denison 23, Hiram 3

’24 Menace LSM Khari Freeman (Poly Prep) was automatic off the carpet with five ground balls and two takeaways to help Denison knock off the Spartans. Freeman then added an assist in the rout of Hiram.

RIT 12, Cortland 10
Cortland 22, Morrisville 4

’21 Ambush Sam Rothman (Half Hollow Hills East) nearly willed the Red Dragons to an upset of RIT with three goals and an assist. He helped Cortland get back on the winning track with two goals, an assist and a ground ball.

The ’21 Ambush defensive tandem of Logan Schanars (Half Hollow Hills East) and Conner Gallagher (Northport) each caused two turnovers in the rout of Morrisville.

Geneseo 16, Oneonta 11

’21 Ambush goalie Andrew Tittmann (Northport) denied 10 shots sent his way to help Geneseo to its fourth straight win.

’23 Warriors defenseman Ryan Thorne (Newfield) posted matching three-takeaway, three-ground ball days for USMMA.

’23 Warriors Nicky Cairo (Oceanside) snatched up a ground ball to help Middlebury roll.

Farmingdale State 14, Fairleigh Dickinson 7

’21 Ambush defenseman Aidan Bonn (Huntington) snatched up a trio of ground balls for FDU.

SUNY Poly 15, New Paltz 11
Oswego 11, New Paltz 6

’21 Ambush Anthony Senecal (Patchogue-Medford) scored a hat trick to go with four ground balls and a takeaway against Poly. He followed it up with a goal, an assist, a ground ball and a takeaway against Oswego.

Plattsburgh 14, New England 10
Oneonta 20, Plattsburgh 5

’23 Warriors Peter Urso (Bay Shore) put on a show with four goals, an assist and a ground ball to help the Cardinals finish out their non-conference slate with a win. He added a ground ball against Oneonta.
