The Team 91 2022 Smash attackman and Mount Sinai product kept goalies turning and raking in a pair of Syracuse wins last week. Spallina had two goals, four assists and three ground balls in an 18-2 rout of Manhattan. He was even better in a ranked showdown with Colgate. Spallina erupted for a career-high 11 points on the strength of five goals and six assists in a 16-12 win over the Raiders. He also added two ground balls and a takeaway as Syracuse claimed its fourth straight win.
His first point against Colgate came on an assist to teammate Owen Hiltz and gave both players their 200th career points on the same play. Spallina is the second-fastest player in Syracuse history to reach 200 points.
’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) netted a hat trick against the Jaspers and added a ground ball against Colgate. ’23 Bandits Tyler McCarthy (Connetquot) had a goal, an assist and four ground balls in the opener before chipping in a ground ball against the Raiders. ’20 Crush defenseman Nick Caccamo (Harborfields) caused two turnovers to go with a ground ball against Manhattan. He followed it up with one of each in Saturday’s game.

’21 Blaze Danny Caddigan (Smithtown West) popped off for his first multi-goal game of the season to help the Big Red run past the Bulldogs.
’21 Blaze Mac Rodriguez (Chaminade) won 13 of 25 faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls along the way. ’19 White goalie Jared Paquette (West Islip) made a save in relief down the stretch.

’21 Blaze SSDM Chris Barry (East Meadow) dominated off the ground for the Pride. Barry hoovered up five ground balls as the Pride ran past Monmouth.
’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) scored twice, dished out an assist and also scooped up five ground balls in the win.

’22 Smash Marcus Wertheim (Smithtown East) was an absolute force for the Bears. He tallied twice and added an assist and a ground ball to help Brown topple UMass in overtime. Earlier in the week, he burned the Wildcats for four assists, a goal, two ground balls and a takeaway. ’20 Crush SSDM Kevin Sweeney (Mount Sinai) collected a ground ball in the win over the Minutemen.

’21 Blaze Brandon Ventarola (Trinity-Pawling) scooped up a ground ball as the Big Green won an overtime thriller for their sixth straight win.
’23 Bandits Leo Hoffman (Brunswick, Conn.) set career bests in assists (three) and points (four) for Penn against Dartmouth. He also set up another goal against the Hawks. ’24 Wolfpack Dante Vardaro (St. Anthony’s) knocked out a takeaway and picked up a ground ball against SJU.

’20 Orange Cory Capri (John Glenn / Hill School, Pa.) had a pair of assists and two ground balls to highlight the Blue Hens’ rout of Hampton. Earlier in the week, he handed out a helper to push Delaware past the Red Foxes.
’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) was a force yet again for Marist. He scored once, picked up a ground ball and caused a turnover as Marist knocked off the Mount. Cassano also tacked on a ground ball against Delaware. ’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) scooped up three ground balls and took the ball away once for Marist against Delaware. He chipped in a ground ball against Hampton.

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) helped the Scarlet Knights knock off the Blue Jays in the teams’ Big Ten opener. The freshman lefty attackman scored once, set up another goal, caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball for Rutgers.

’23 Warriors Brayden Wilcken (Mount Sinai) was money in the Sharks’ cage yet again. He made 14 saves – his sixth straight game with double-digit saves – and grabbed two ground balls to help LIU to its seventh straight victory.
’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) was an animal on the defensive end with three ground balls and two takeaways. ’21 Blaze defenseman AJ Volkmann (Mount Sinai) picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover in the win.

Despite a pair of losses, ’22 Smash defenseman Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) was a force for the Great Danes. He scored his second goal of the season to go with three ground balls and a pair of takeaways against UMBC after securing a pair of ground balls against the ‘Hoos.
’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point) made eight saves and collected four ground balls against the Retrievers. ’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) scored once in both games. He chipped in an assist against Virginia and added a ground ball against UMBC. ’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) doled out an assist against UMBC.

’20 Crush faceoff midfielder Koby Ginder (Brunswick, Conn.) split his two faceoff reps to help the Tigers fend off the Crimson.
