What a start to the season for Anthony Mollica! 

The Team 91 2022 Smash and Massapequa alum fired home four goals to help Hofstra cruise, 20-2, over Iona in both teams’ season opener.

Mollica only needed five shots to can his career-best four tallies. He also set career bests with two assists and six points. He earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Maryland 12, Richmond 7

’21 Blaze Matt Keegan (Sachem North) shined bright in his first game as a Terp. The lefty sniper ripped home three goals and set up two more to go with a ground ball as Maryland topped the Spiders.

Navy 14, High Point 10

’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s) excelled in his Navy debut, pairing two goals with two assists to pace the Mids to a win in their season opener. ’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) set up a pair of Navy goals in the win.

Syracuse 24, Jacksonville 5

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai, three goals, two assists, one ground ball) and ’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s, four goals, one assist) each had five points to jumpstart the Orange’s offensive show.

’22 Smash LSM Dylan Sageder (Mount Sinai) had a pair of caused turnovers to go with a ground ball. ’23 Bandits SSDM Jake Spallina (Mount Sinai) and ’20 Crush defenseman Nick Caccamo (Harborfields) posted matching two-ground ball, one-takeaway stat lines.

’24 Wolfpack LSM Vincent Bolognino (Harborfields) had an assist in his first career game, while ’20 Crush Tyler Cordes (Connetquot) also handed out a helper in the win.

Duke 26, Bellarmine 7 

’20 Crush Andrew McAdorey (St. Anthony’s) fueled the Blue Devils’ season-opening rout by doling out three assists. ’21 Blaze defenseman Jake Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) earned the start and guided a defense that held the Knights to only two first-half goals.

Rutgers 10, Lehigh 6

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) ripped home his first career goal and collected a pair of ground balls to help the Scarlet Knights pick up a win in his Rutgers debut.

’24 Wolfpack Luke Breslin (St. Anthony’s) hammered home his first two career goals in his college debut.

Johns Hopkins 13, Denver 10

’23 Bandits LSM Luke Martin (St. Anthony’s) had a takeaway and a ground ball to help the Blue Jays knock off last year’s national runner-up in their season opener.

Penn State 14, Colgate 9

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) found the back of the net on his first two career shots to spur the Nittany Lions past Colgate.

Mercer 23, Hampton 3

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) claimed 13 of 16 faceoffs, collecting six ground balls in the process, as the Bears cruised in their season opener.

Georgetown 13, Loyola 6 

’22 Smash Brady West (South Side) tallied the Greyhounds’ first goal of the season to go with a ground ball.

VMI 18, St. Bonaventure 7

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) dished out an assist and added a ground ball for the Bonnies.
