Loyola is finally on the board and it’s thanks to Brady West! 

The Team 91 2022 Smash midfielder by way of South Side buried the overtime winner as the Greyhounds beat Bucknell, 12-11, for their first win of the season.

West also set up a goal for Loyola, which snapped its nine-game losing streak in style.

Harvard 18, Dartmouth 7

Jack Speidell is becoming quite the problem for Harvard opponents.

The ’23 Bandits and St. Anthony’s product simply can’t stop scoring. Saturday, he had the best game of his career, scoring six times and adding an assist as the Crimson smacked Dartmouth to secure a key Ivy League win.

Speidell started the game by burying a natural hat trick and finished the first quarter with four goals and an assist as the Crimson raced out to a 7-0 lead after one. It’s the third straight game and the fourth overall in which Speidell has scored at least five goals. The performance marked Speidell’s sixth hat trick of the season and pushed him past the 30-goal mark on the season.

’21 Blaze Brandon Ventarola (Trinity-Pawling) collected a ground ball for the Big Green.

Syracuse 14, Notre Dame 9

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) thrived in the big-game environment, burning the two-time defending national champions with four goals, an assist and a ground ball as the Orange won a top-10 showdown.

’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) scored twice and collected a ground ball for ‘Cuse. ’23 Bandits Tyler McCarthy (Connetquot) set up one of Spallina’s goals and also took the ball away and corralled a ground ball. ’20 Crush Tyler Cordes (Connetquot) also chipped in an assist in the win.

North Carolina 18, Virginia 9

’23 Bandits Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) rang up his fourth consecutive hat trick to go along with two assists as the Tar Heels stormed past the ‘Hoos. ’20 Crush Ryan Levy (East Chapel Hill, N.C. / Taft, Conn.) snapped home a hat trick to go with a ground ball for UNC, which won for the fourth time in five games.

Yale 14, Penn 11

’19 White goalie Jared Paquette (West Islip) celebrated his return to the Bulldogs’ cage with 13 saves as Yale picked up its second straight Ivy win.

’22 Smash defenseman Patrick Pisano (Cold Spring Harbor) picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover for the Bulldogs. Yale also got six faceoff wins and four ground balls from ’21 Blaze Mac Rodriguez (Chaminade).

Rutgers 8, Maryland 6

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) fired home a goal and picked up two ground balls to pace the Scarlet Knights in their upset of the No. 2 Terps. The win marked Rutgers’ win over the highest-ranked opponent in school history.

’21 Blaze Matt Keegan (Sachem North) picked up a pair of ground balls for Maryland.

Duke 12, Boston University 7

’21 Blaze defenseman Jake Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) caused a turnover and corralled a ground ball for the Blue Devils. ’20 Crush Andrew McAdorey (St. Anthony’s) set up a goal in Duke’s win.

’24 Wolfpack Ben Morris (Bayport-Blue Point) picked up two ground balls for the Terriers. ’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce (Bayport-Blue Point) chipped in one ground ball.

Siena 12, Manhattan 8

’21 Ambush Ryan McCarthy (Northport) was a playmaking force for the Saints, tying a career-best with six assists to spur the Siena offense. It marked McCarthy’s second six-assist game of the year and allowed him to hit the 30-assist plateau for the second straight year. McCarthy also scooped up a trio of ground balls and caused two turnovers as the Saints won their fourth straight game.

’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) rang up a hat trick and picked up a ground ball to help the Great Danes tame the Bearcats in America East play. ’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point) denied 10 shots sent his way to go with a ground ball in the win. ’22 Smash defenseman Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) picked up two ground balls to go with a takeaway.

Smith made 11 saves while also snagging three ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers against the Big Red. Neeson supplied a pair of ground balls, Pfeiffer doled out an assist and ’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) tallied once for Albany.

’20 Crush SSDM Kevin Sweeney (Mount Sinai) collected a ground ball for the Bears.

Delaware 17, Stony Brook 9

’20 Orange Cory Capri (John Glenn / Hill School, Pa.) handed out an assist to pace the Blue Hens’ explosive offense.

’24 Wolfpack Zach Brittman (Ward Melville) picked up his first college point by handing out an assist for the Seawolves. ’22 Smash SSDM Jaden Baldwin (St. Dominic) added a ground ball for Stony Brook.

Navy 14, Lafayette 8

’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) pocketed a pair of goals to help the Midshipmen to their third win in the past four games. ’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s) put up a pair of assists, including on one of Flaherty’s tallies, for Navy.

Towson 12, Monmouth 10

’23 Warriors Ronan Fitzpatrick (Sayville) sniped a pair of goals for his ninth multi-goal game of the year to go with a ground ball for the Tigers.

Penn State 11, Michigan 8

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) set up a goal and added two ground balls as the Nittany Lions picked up a major Big Ten win.

Princeton 17, Lehigh 11

’20 Crush Koby Ginder (Brunswick, Conn.) helped the Tigers stay hot with four faceoff wins and two ground balls.

Fairfield 14, Hofstra 10

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) dished out three assists and scored once for the Pride. Mollica also tacked on two ground balls.

Robert Morris 13, LIU 9

’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball for the Sharks. ’21 Blaze defenseman AJ Volkmann (Mount Sinai) secured a pair of ground balls for LIU.

Sacred Heart 12, Quinnipiac 7

’21 Blaze goalie Mason Oak (Comsewogue) did what he could for the Bobcats, stopping 18 shots and collecting a trio of ground balls in the Quinnipiac cage.

’23 Bandits LSM Glenn Platania (St. Anthony’s) racked up six ground balls and two takeaways for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats also got two goals, two ground balls and a caused turnover from ’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) and an assist from ’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai).

Utah 16, Mercer 10

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) won 10 faceoffs, picked up four ground balls, scored once and handed out an assist for the Bears.

Saint Joseph’s 15, St. Bonaventure 3

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) tallied once and added a ground ball for the Bonnies.

Denver 14, St. John’s 7

’19 Orange SSDM Nick Turrini (Calhoun) secured two ground balls for the Johnnies, who also got one ground ball from ’24 Wolfpack SSDM Maclin Keyser.

Cortland 26, Plattsburgh 7

’21 Ambush Sam Rothman (Half Hollow Hills East) spearheaded the explosive Cortland rout with four goals, four assists and a takeaway.

’23 Warriors Peter Urso (Bay Shore) led the Cardinals with two goals, an assist and two ground balls.

Geneseo 10, Brockport 2
Geneseo 24, Sage 5

’21 Ambush goalie Andrew Tittmann (Northport) was phenomenal in the Geneseo cage, making 16 saves and grabbing a ground ball in the win over Brockport.

’21 Ambush goalie Wes Ralph (Harborfields) made three saves in split duty as the Knights burned Sage.

New Paltz 8, Morrisville 7

’21 Ambush Anthony Senecal (Patchogue-Medford) scored his third goal of the game to knot it up with 2:29 to play before New Paltz scored in double overtime for the win. Senecal also doled out two assists and collected two ground balls.

Denison 20, Wabash 4

’24 Orange LSM Khari Freeman (Poly Prep) tallied a goal and caused a turnover in Denison’s rout.

RPI 12, Vassar 8

’21 Ambush Trey Berry (Chaminade) picked up a ground ball for RPI.

Fairleigh Dickinson 25, Cairn 3
Arcadia 13, Fairleigh Dickinson 6

’21 Ambush defenseman Aidan Bonn (Huntington) caused two turnovers in each of the Red Devils’ games and grabbed a combined seven ground balls.

Kean 11, Maritime 11
Merchant Marine 13, Maritime 7

’23 Warriors Ryan Thorne (Newfield) grabbed two ground balls to lead a strong defensive day from Merchant Marine in the teams’ Skyline opener.

’24 Wolfpack Ryan Hannaford (Bayport-Blue Point) recorded an assist and picked up two ground balls for Maritime. He added four ground balls against Kean.
