Brennan O’Neill made sure that Duke continued its incredible regular-season run against ACC rival Virginia.

The Team 91 2020 Crush attackman and reigning Tewaaraton winner torched the Cavaliers again. This time, it was to the tune of four goals, one assist and a ground ball as the Blue Devils beat the Cavaliers, 18-12, for the 19th straight time in the regular season.

’19 Orange All-American defenseman Kenny Brower (Massapequa) took the ball away four times and added a ground ball for Duke. ’20 Crush Andrew McAdorey (St. Anthony’s) tallied twice and added a caused turnover and a ground ball. The Blue Devils also got a big juice goal from ’19 Orange SSDM Jake Caputo (Middle Creek, N.C.), who also added a takeaway and a ground ball. ’21 Blaze defenseman Jake Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) also collected a ground ball.

Syracuse 10, North Carolina 9

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) supplied five assists to go with a goal, five ground balls and a caused turnover to help the Orange fend off the Tar Heels’ comeback effort.

’19 Orange Christian Mulé (Half Hollow Hills West) paired a goal with an assist for ‘Cuse. He also added three takeaways and three ground balls in the win. ’20 Crush defenseman Nick Caccamo (Harborfields) dislodged a pair of takeaways for the Orange, who also got an assist from ’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s).

’23 Bandits Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) nearly willed UNC to an upset with three goals, two assists and a ground ball. ’21 Blaze LSM Tyler Schwarz (Shoreham-Wading River) collected a ground ball.

Notre Dame 18, Cornell 17

’23 Bandits Jordan Faison (Pine Crest, Fla.) caused a turnover in the final minute to set up the game-winning goal for the Irish. Faison finished the game with a goal, an assist, two takeaways and two ground balls to keep Notre Dame at No. 1 nationally.

’19 Orange faceoff midfielder Angelo Petrakis (Massapequa) won three of six faceoffs for the Big Red.

’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) caused a turnover in both of the Red Foxes’ win to set Marist’s single-season record for caused turnovers with 31. He also added a ground ball against the Saints and a half-dozen against the Sharks.

’23 Warriors defenseman Michael Cassano also led the defense against LIU with three takeaways and a goal after a three-ground ball, one caused turnover day against Siena.

’20 Crush defenseman Trevor Marsala (Mount Sinai) caused a turnover with 1:28 left to play that jumpstarted an incredible Siena comeback. The Saints scored four times in 46 seconds for the win. Marsala finished with five ground balls and four caused turnovers after pairing two and two against the Red Foxes.

’21 Blaze Ryan McCarthy (Northport) handed out five assists in two games, including four against Marist.

’21 Blaze goalie Mason Oak (Comsewogue) was phenomenal in the cage for the Bobcats. He made 22 saves against the Pioneers, then followed it up with 17 saves and a ground ball in the win over the Keydets. ’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) tallied once against VMI.

’20 Orange defenseman Kyle Connor (Sachem East) snatched up a ground ball against Sacred Heart. ’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai) chipped in a ground ball against VMI.

’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) pocketed a goal for the Sharks against the Jaspers. ’21 Blaze defenseman AJ Volkmann (Mount Sinai) had a takeaway against Manhattan and Marist, while also adding a ground ball against the Red Foxes.

’19 White Christian Lyons (Syosset) had a combined four ground balls for Jaspers, including three against the Saints.

Brown 13, Princeton 12

’22 Smash Marcus Wertheim (Smithtown East) bagged the game-winning goal with 2:24 to play as the Bears stunned the Tigers for their first Ivy League win of the year.

Wertheim also doled out two assists for Brown, which also got a ground ball from ’20 Crush SSDM Kevin Sweeney (Mount Sinai).

Yale 20, Dartmouth 13

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Machado Rodriguez (Chaminade) won six of seven faceoffs, including six ground balls, to help the Bulldogs shake off a slow start and down the Big Green.

’22 Smash defenseman Patrick Pisano (Cold Spring Harbor) took the ball away once and grabbed a ground ball against Dartmouth. ’19 White goalie Jared Paquette (West Islip) stopped four shots.

Earlier in the week, Rodriguez went 16-for-30 with a whopping 10 ground balls to help the Bulldogs fend off the Terriers. Paquette was terrific with 15 saves and an assist, while Pisano dominated off the ground with a half-dozen ground balls and two takeaways.

’21 Blaze Brandon Ventarola (Trinity-Pawling) paced Dartmouth with a goal, two assists and three ground balls.

Binghamton 21, UMBC 10

’21 Blaze Matt Keegan (Sachem North) snapped home four goals to go with four ground balls and a caused turnover to jumpstart the Bearcats’ offensive explosion. ’20 Orange SSDM Trey Sofield (Long Beach) added three ground balls and a caused turnover.

’20 Crush goalie Jayson Tingue (Bay Shore) denied 11 shots sent his way for the Retrievers.

’19 White defenseman Alex Keener (Bethpage) rack up their eighth straight win by virtue of a four-ground ball, one-takeaway day.

’20 Crush LSM Chris Bardak (St. Anthony’s) led the Falcons to their sixth straight win with three ground balls and a takeaway.

’20 Crush SSDM Brett Martin (Half Hollow Hills East) and his brother, ’23 Bandits LSM Luke Martin (St. Anthony’s), each picked up a ground ball to help the Blue Jays stay perfect in the Big Ten.

’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) fired out an assist and ’22 Smash defenseman Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) spearheaded a stingy defensive effort with a ground ball for the Great Danes.

’23 Jack Speidell (St. Anthony’s) buried a pair of goals to go with a ground ball and ’19 Orange LSM Greg Campisi (St. Anthony’s) had two ground balls, a takeaway and an assist for the Crimson.

’20 Crush Xavier Arline (Shoreham-Wading River) dished out an assist and grabbed a ground ball for the Midshipmen. ’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) caused a turnover for Navy, which also got a ground ball from ’20 Crush defenseman Nick LiCalzi (South Side).

’21 Ambush Sam Rothman (Half Hollow Hills East) supplied three assists and racked up four ground balls to pace the Red Dragons. ’21 Ambush LSM Conner Gallagher (Northport) scooped up a trio of ground balls in the win.

’23 Warriors Cody Suhr (Sachem North) erupted for two goals, four assists and a ground ball against Mass. Maritime to finish off a two-win week for WestConn. Earlier in the week, he tallied once, set up two more goals and grabbed two ground balls. Suhr earned Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.

’19 White Michael Carere (Connetquot) once again did it all for the Golden Eagles against Purchase. He was a ridiculous 17-for-20 at the faceoff stripe, picked up a ludicrous 18 ground balls and casually went off for four goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal.

Carere added two goals, a 13-for-25 day at the faceoff dot and 12 ground balls against Manhattanville.

’23 Warriors defenseman Ryan Thorne (Newfield) paced a staunch defensive effort with a ground ball.
