The Team 91 2023 Bandits and St. Anthony’s alum put on an unforgettable performance for North Carolina on Sunday in a hyped top-5 clash against Harvard. Duffy erupted for a career-best seven goals to fuel the Tar Heels’ 17-7 rout of the Crimson.

Duffy got the scoring started a minute into the game and had three of Carolina’s first four goals to kickstart the blowout. The All-American attackman also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover for the Tar Heels. Carolina also got two assists apiece from the ’25 Shock duo of Gary Merrill (St. Anthony’s, two ground balls) and Anthony Raio (Half Hollow Hills West, one ground ball) in its non-conference finale.

’23 Bandits Jack Speidell (St. Anthony’s) paced the Crimson with a hat trick and a pair of ground balls. Earlier in the week, he went off for four goals and two assists, complete with two ground balls, as Harvard took down Boston University, 14-11. ’23 Bandits Jackson Greene (St. Anthony’s) added a ground ball in that win.

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce (Bayport-Blue Point) had a ground ball for BU.

Yale 13, Cornell 12

’22 Smash defenseman Patrick Pisano (Cold Spring Harbor) was a force in the Bulldogs’ upset of the defending national champions. Pisano took the ball away four times and scooped up a trio of ground balls to lead the Yale defense.

Syracuse 16, Duke 15

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) came up big for the Orange with two goals, four assists and three ground balls as ‘Cuse won its ACC opener. ’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s, three ground balls) paired a goal with an assist. ’23 Bandits Tyler McCarthy (Connetquot) caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball, while ’24 Wolfpack LSM Vincent Bolognino (Harborfields) secured a ground ball in the win.

Albany 13, UMass-Lowell 7

’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point) was lights-out with 13 saves and a ground ball to pace the Great Danes. ’22 Smash Alex Pfeiffer (Sachem North) led the offense with two goals and two ground balls, while ’25 Shock Matt Pettis (Massapequa) snapped home a goal. ’22 Smash LSM Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) and ’23 Warriors James Reid (Sachem North) each had a ground ball and a takeaway. ’22 Smash faceoff midfielder Austin Oppenheim (Mount Sinai) snatched up three faceoff wins and a ground ball for Albany.

’23 Warriors faceoff midfielder Owen McIntee (St. Anthony’s) split his four faceoffs for the Riverhawks.

’25 Shock James Pagano (Commack) scored his first career goal on his first career shot and added an assist to help the Spiders stay perfect.

Penn 16, Dartmouth 14

’24 Wolfpack Dante Vardaro (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and grabbed a quartet of ground balls to help the Quakers stun the Big Green with an insane comeback from down 14-6.

Stony Brook 16, Fairfield 10

’22 Sean Carlo (Wantagh) paired a goal with an assist to help the Seawolves roll on the road to their fifth win in the past six games.

’23 Bandits Nik Barbero (Ward Melville) had an assist to help the Saints beat the Red Foxes in double overtime. ’24 Wolfpack SSDM Ryan Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) caused a turnover against the Griffins to push the Saints to a sweep.

’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) was a force for Marist with a combined eight ground balls in two games, plus three takeaways against Siena. ’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) matched the three takeaways against the Bobcats. He had six ground balls in two games.

’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) paced the Bobcats with two goals, one caused turnover and a ground ball in the win over Merrimack. He later posted a hat trick against the Red Foxes. ’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai) had matching one-goal, two-assist days for Quinnipiac.

’25 Shock Matty Higgins (Boys’ Latin, Md.) took the ball away once and grabbed a ground ball as the Terps rolled.

’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) snatched up a ground ball as the Sharks won their fifth straight game.

Mercer 7, Queens 4

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) won nine of 14 faceoffs to go with two ground balls for the Bears.

Princeton 20, Brown 14

’22 Smash Marcus Wertheim (Smithtown East) did everything he could to give the Bears a shot at an upset. Wertheim set career highs in assists (four) and points (eight) while tying his career high with four goals for Brown. He also tacked on a ground ball and a takeaway.

Army 14, Lehigh 10

’24 Wolfpack Luke Breslin (St. Anthony’s) got the scoring started for the Mountain Hawks with a goal and also added a takeaway. ’22 Smash LSM Matt Sparhuber (Comsewogue) also took the ball away once to go with a ground ball.

Sacred Heart 15, Hofstra 13

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) buried a pair of goals and added two ground balls for the Pride.

Virginia 11, Notre Dame 9

’25 Dylan Faison (Saint Andrew’s, Fla.) caused a turnover and added a ground ball for the Irish.

’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s) netted a pair of goals, set up another, and scooped up a ground ball for the Midshipmen.

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) scored once for the Bonnies.

’24 Wolfpack SSDM Brett Oppenheim (Mount Sinai) picked up two ground balls as the Panthers stayed perfect.

’25 Hornets Scott Triolo (Northport) canned a goal and picked up a ground ball to help LMU fend off UAH.

’23 Warriors Joey Forchelli (MacArthur) netted a hat trick, a takeaway and a ground ball in each of the Rams’ win. He also handed out three assists against FDU. ’21 Ambush Casey Fortunato (Northport) tossed out a pair of helpers to go with two ground balls and a caused turnover against FDU.

Western Connecticut State 8, Montclair State 7

’23 Warriors Cody Suhr (Sachem North) netted a hat trick and a ground ball and ’25 Hornets Thomas Keegan (Sachem North) added two goals, an assist and a ground ball in WestConn’s win. ’25 Hornets Joey D’Orazio (Sachem East) set up one of Keegan’s goals and added a ground ball.

Plattsburgh 10, New Paltz 6

’23 Warriors Peter Urso (Bay Shore) netted two goals and added an assist and four ground balls to help the Cardinals fly in their SUNYAC opener.

’23 defenseman Ryan Thorne (Newfield) corralled three total ground balls and caused a turnover against the Golden Eagles as USMMA swept its week.

’25 Hornets defenseman Joey Zarcone (Northport) was a force on the back end for Oswego. Zarone forced a pair of turnovers and corralled four ground balls to lead the Oswego charge.

Middlebury 11, Union 8

’23 Warriors Nicky Cairo (Oceanside) bagged a goal and grabbed a ground ball for the Panthers.

’24 Wolfpack Ryan Hannaford (Bayport-Blue Point) had a pair of four-goal games for the Privateers. He also added an assist, five ground balls and a takeaway in the two games.
