Parker McDonald (St. Anthony’s) looks right at home and didn’t waste any time in making an impact in his North Carolina debut. McDonald took the ball away twice to help UNC fend off Jacksonville‘s upset bid, 11-10, in their season opener Saturday.

’23 Bandits All-American attackman Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) dished out two assists for the Tar Heels.

Syracuse 20, Saint Joseph’s 2

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) led the Orange onslaught with a four-goal, five-assist, one-ground ball day as ‘Cuse romped.

’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) paired two goals with two assists, to go along with two ground balls. ’24 Wolfpack LSM Vinny Bolognino (Harborfields) vacuumed up three ground balls and took the ball away once. ’23 Bandits SSDM Jake Spallina (Mount Sinai) dislodged a turnover, too.

Boston University 23, Siena 7

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce (Bayport-Blue Point) spearheaded a stingy Terrier defense with three ground balls and a takeaway. ’22 Smash goalie Kevin Barrett (St. Anthony’s) made a save as BU cruised.

’24 Wolfpack SSDM Ryan Wilson (Shoreham-Wading River) caused a turnover and grabbed a pair of ground balls for the Saints.

’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) made sure the Mids’ season got off to a hot start by handing out two assists to go with a caused turnover. His brother, ’24 Wolfpack Pat Flaherty (Chaminade / Salisbury, Conn.) collected his first collegiate point with an assist to go with two ground balls. ’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s) doled out an assist, too.

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) got the Pride on the board with a goal and two assists in the rout of Iona. He followed it up with two goals, one helper and three ground balls against the Crusaders.

Quinnipiac 15, UMass-Lowell 12

’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai) was on fire, snapping home a hat trick and chipping in an assist, as the Bobcats started their season on the right foot. ’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) grabbed four ground balls and set up a goal in the win.

’23 Bandits LSM Glenn Platania (St. Anthony’s) put up a two-takeaway, two-ground ball day in front of ’21 Blaze goalie Mason Oak (Comsewogue), who stopped nine shots and grabbed three ground balls.

’23 Warriors faceoff midfielder Owen McIntee (St. Anthony’s) won both of his faceoffs for the Riverhawks.

Maryland 19, Loyola 10

’19 Orange defenseman Mikey Alexander (West Islip) made a good first impression in his first game as a Terp with a caused turnover to lead the defense. ’25 Shock Matty Higgins (Boys’ Latin, Md.) recorded his first career point with an assist.

LIU 14, Mount St. Mary’s 12

’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) snapped home a goal to help the Sharks open their season with a win.

Johns Hopkins 17, Robert Morris 2

’23 Bandits LSM Luke Martin (St. Anthony’s) led the Blue Jays’ defense with a caused turnover.

Mercer 13, Marist 9

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) won 10 faceoffs, took the ball away once and snatched up two ground balls to pace the Bears.

’21 Blaze defenseman Aiden McCaffrey (Comsewogue) picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover. ’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) also took the ball away once for the Red Foxes.

Fairfield 14, Lehigh 13

’24 Wolfpack Luke Breslin (St. Anthony’s) was phenomenal for the Mountain Hawks, dishing out a career-best six assists en route to a career-best eight-point day. Breslin also picked up two ground balls. ’22 Smash LSM Matt Sparhuber (Comsewogue) dislodged a takeaway for Lehigh.

Villanova 14, Penn State 13

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) shouldered the scoring load for the Nittany Lions with three goals and an assist.

Bucknell 11, St. Bonaventure 2

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) gobbled up four ground balls for the Bonnies.

Lincoln Memorial 15, Wheeling 8

’25 Hornets Scott Triolo (Northport) created some instant offense in his collegiate debut, scoring twice and picking up two ground balls in the win.

Tampa 13, Lenoir-Rhyne 10

’25 Hornets goalie Gavin Stabile (Northport) stopped seven shots in his first career start.
