2026 Team 91 in College: April 13 Recap

It was a comeback for the ages for Brown against Dartmouth, and of course,  Team 91 2022 Smash Marcus Wertheim was heavily involved.

Wertheim scored with three minutes to go in regulation and also handed out a trio of assists as the Bears stormed back from down seven goals to stun the Big Green, 17-16, in overtime.

The Smithtown East alum also caused a pair of turnovers and grabbed a ground ball in the win.

Albany 12, Vermont 9

’22 Smash LSM Max Neeson (Pottsgrove, Pa.) pocketed a pair of goals – his first multi-goal game of the year and second of his career – to go with two takeaways and two ground balls as the Great Danes won their fifth straight. ’24 Wolfpack goalie Brady Smith (Bayport-Blue Point) denied nine shots sent his way and also found the time to toss out an assist.

Notre Dame 10, North Carolina 5

’22 Smash Brock Behrman (Niskayuna / Salisbury, Conn.) scored once and added an assist as the Irish secured their second win in as many weeks against the No. 1 team in the country.

’23 Bandits Owen Duffy (St. Anthony’s) led Carolina’s offense with a goal and an assist. ’25 Shock Anthony Raio (Half Hollow Hills West) had an assist and a ground ball, while ’25 Shock LSM Parker McDonald (St. Anthony’s) contributed a ground ball for the Tar Heels.

Syracuse 14, Virginia 9

’22 Smash Joey Spallina (Mount Sinai) closed to within one point of the all-time Syracuse scoring record with two goals and three assists, complete with two ground balls, as the Orange picked up a big ACC win.

’22 Smash Michael Leo (St. Anthony’s) had an assist, while ’23 Bandits SSDM Jake Spallina (Mount Sinai) racked up two ground balls in the win.

Georgetown 17, Marquette 7

’22 Smash SSDM James Carretta (Mount Sinai) vacuumed up a quartet of ground balls and won a faceoff as the Hoyas rolled.

Yale 15, Harvard 9

’22 Smash defenseman Patrick Pisano (Cold Spring Harbor) caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball to highlight a huge day from the Bulldogs’ defense.

’23 Bandits Jackson Greene (St. Anthony’s) doled out an assist for the Crimson.

Marist 13, Manhattan 9

’23 Warriors LSM Michael Cassano (MacArthur) secured a pair of ground balls and dislodged a turnover to pace the Red Foxes’ defense

Towson 21, Hampton 5

’23 Warriors Ronan Fitzpatrick (Sayville) hammered home five goals as the Tigers mauled the Pirates.

Mercer 18, Bellarmine 17

’21 Blaze faceoff midfielder Chris Cappelmann (Smithtown East) was a force for the Bears, winning 23 of 35 faceoffs to go with 13 ground balls and a caused turnover.

Maryland 12, Rutgers 2

’25 Shock Matty Higgins (Boys’ Latin, Md.) snatched up a ground ball to help the Terps clinch the program’s seventh Big Ten regular-season championship.

’23 Bandits JJ Aiello (Bayport-Blue Point) picked up a ground ball for the Scarlet Knights.

Quinnipiac 14, Mount St. Mary’s 8

’23 Warriors Cole Marsala (Mount Sinai) did some heavy lifting for the Bobcats, scoring once, setting up two more goals and grabbing three ground balls in the win. ’23 Warriors Nick Meoni (Sachem North) tallied once and grabbed a ground ball, while ’23 Bandits LSM Glenn Platania (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball.

Princeton 20, Penn 8

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Dante Vardaro (St. Anthony’s) stripped the ball twice and grabbed a ground ball for the Quakers.

Boston University 13, Bucknell 12

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Mikey Luce‘s (Bayport-Blue Point) fourth-quarter caused turnover helped the Terriers nip the Bison in overtime.

Army 14, Navy 9

’22 Smash Jack Flaherty (Chaminade) scored twice and added an assist for the Midshipmen. ’24 Wolfpack LSM Pat Flaherty (Chaminade / Salisbury, Conn.) took the ball away once and corralled two ground balls for Navy, which also got a ground ball from ’23 Bandits Jack Ponzio (St. Anthony’s).

Loyola 16, Lafayette 7

’22 Brady West (South Side) bagged a pair of goals to help the Greyhounds stay red-hot with their fourth straight win.

Stony Brook 17, Monmouth 10

’22 Smash Sean Carlo (Wantagh) scored once and added a ground ball as the Seawolves won their third straight and fifth in the past six games.

Colgate 9, Lehigh 7

’24 Wolfpack Luke Breslin (St. Anthony’s) provided a trio of assists and a pair of ground balls for the Mountain Hawks. ’22 Smash LSM Matthew Sparhuber (Comsewogue) caused a turnover for Lehigh.

Michigan 9, Penn State 8

’24 Wolfpack Hunter Aquino (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) tallied twice in his return to the PSU lineup.

Drexel 17, Hofstra 8

’22 Smash Anthony Mollica (Massapequa) spurred the Pride’s offense with a goal and a helper and two ground balls.

Ohio State 7, Johns Hopkins 6

’23 Bandits LSM Luke Martin (St. Anthony’s) caused a turnover and snared a ground ball for the Blue Jays.

VMI 10, LIU 8

’21 Blaze SSDM Ryan Baudo (St. Anthony’s) and ’23 Warriors goalie Brayden Wilcken (Mount Sinai) each picked up a ground ball for the Sharks.

UMBC 14, Binghamton 8

’24 Wolfpack defenseman Aidan McMinn (Ward Melville) picked up a trio of ground balls to go with two caused turnovers for the Bearcats.

Richmond 23, St. Bonaventure 7

’23 Warriors PJ Shanahan (Bayport-Blue Point) tallied once and set up another goal to go with three ground balls for the Bonnies.

Bryant 17, Iona 6

’24 Wolfpack goalie Sal Caputo (Chaminade) stopped two of the three shots sent his way in relief for the Gaels.

’25 Hornets defenseman Lucas Weaver (Connetquot) picked up a ground ball for LMU.

’23 Warriors Cody Suhr (Sachem North) came up big in a pair of games for WestConn needed his best. He torched Keene for six goals, an assist and a ground ball. Suhr followed it up with three goals, an assist and a ground ball.

’25 Hornets Thomas Keegan (Sachem North) combined for four goals, two assists and seven ground balls in the two WestConn wins. ’25 Hornets Joey D’Orazio (Sachem East) buried a goal in both games.

Maritime 19, Mt. St. Mary 3
Maritime 13, Merchant Marine 11

’24 Wolfpack Ryan Hannaford (Bayport-Blue Point) fired home a hat trick to go with a pair of ground balls as Maritime topped USMMA in a key Skyline battle. Earlier in the week. Hannaford sniped five goals to go with two takeaways and a ground ball.

’23 Warriors defenseman Ryan Thorne (Newfield) secured a quartet of ground balls for USMMA.

Farmingdale State 18, St. Joseph’s 3

’23 Warriors Joey Forchelli (MacArthur) was a force for the Rams, combining for six goals, three assists, seven ground balls and a takeaway as Farmingdale cruised to a pair of Skyline wins. ’21 Ambush Casey Fortunato (Northport) led the onslaught against St. Joseph’s with two goals, two helpers, a trio of ground balls and a caused turnover.

’24 Menace LSM Khari Freeman (Poly Prep) caused a pair of turnovers and grabbed two ground balls as Denison rolled to a pair of wins.

’25 Hornets defenseman Joey Zarcone (Northport) combined for five ground balls and took the ball away twice against Cortland.

Potsdam 14, Plattsburgh 6
Plattsburgh 7, Morrisville 4

’23 Warriors Peter Urso (Bay Shore) had a pair of ground balls in both games for the Cardinals while also scoring a hat trick against Potsdam and another tally in the win over Morrisville.
