Run With The Best Is Huge Success

06/03/2015 11:40 AM -

Stony Brook, NY – On Saturday, May 30th the inaugural Run With The Best Lacrosse Showcase by was held at the brand new Stony Brook University Campus Recreation Fields.  With 275 of the best players from handpicked club teams across the Northeast, the showcase provided players with premier competition in front of 50 college coaches.  The majority of the players were selected from the rosters of Team 91 and the LI Express lacrosse clubs, who were the originators of the event.

Each player was ready for a full day of activities after being geared up in head-to-toe Run With The Best apparel.  Lehigh men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese began the day with a recruiting seminar for players and their families.  Dartmouth men’s lacrosse coach Brendan Callahan also spoke later in the afternoon, providing an insightful look at the recruiting process.

Players took part in four games during the showcase while college coaches from schools including Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Rutgers, UMass, St. John’s, Hofstra, Stony Brook, and Bryant looked on and coached teams.  Every game included the region’s top uncommitted talent and gave players large blocks of playing time at a highly competitive level.

The showcase also allowed players to participate in a speed and agility combine and yoga session.  With strength trainers from Stony Brook University onsite, each player was tested in the 40-yard dash, pro agility, and broad jump.  Each player was provided with their results to see how they measured up to freshmen college lacrosse players.

Here are just a few of the players who stood out in the showcase:

Nick Gamba (LI Express), Noah Cohen (Team 91), Dauzia Etete (LI Express), Tyler Conklin (Team 91), Anthony Maiello (Team 91)

Conor Drake (LI Express), Christian Mulé (Team 91), Sean Derby (LI Express), Kenny Brower (Team 91), John Schreiber (LI Express), Thomas Heller (Empire), John Sidorski (Team 91)

Players went home experiencing a full day of games and coaching from the highest level while showcasing their talent, while at the same time receiving their baseline speed and agility testing and yoga instruction prior to each game.  Goaltenders and FOGO’s also received pregame warm-ups by DLT goalie trainers and faceoff trainers.  Game film was made available courtesy of Game Time Footage. Coaches and parents could not have been happier with the event.

“The skill level of the players involved and the amount of time each participant played were great. The talks from the college coaches were inspirational and a nice jolt of reality.” –A.G. 2018 Parent
