Smithtown West is back in business.
After a loss to Bay Shore ended a 12-game winning streak on May 3, the Bulls have rattled off four straight blowout wins, the latest a 14-4 rout of West Islip in Thursday's Suffolk County Class A semifinals. Marc Cottage ('19 White/Wingate) led the way with four goals and an assist, while Danny Caddigan ('21 Blaze) tossed in four goals as the Bulls raced out to a 9-1 halftime lead.
Spencer Frank ('19 White/Hartford) chipped in a goal and an assist for Smithtown West, which advances to play Ward Melville in Wednesday's championship game. Jared Paquette ('19 White/Yale) was stout in goal in his career finale, stopping a dozen shots for West Islip.
Ward Melville 11, Northport 8: The Patriots avenged their regular-season loss to Northport, thanks to a goal from LSM Pat O'Neill ('19 Orange/Brown). Ryan McCarthy ('21 Ambush) paired a goal with an assist for Northport.
Manhasset 14, Calhoun 4: Manhasset used a powerful, balanced offense, led by a goal and two assists from Chris Alcaraz ('19 White), to topple Calhoun in the Nassau Class B semifinals. Kyle Munson ('19 Orange/Drexel) stopped 15 shots, while Nick Turrini ('19 Orange/Army) bagged a goal for the Colts.
Garden City 6, South Side 3: Brady West ('22 Smash) scored once and added an assist and Nick LiCalzi ('20 Crush/Navy) helped limit a potent Trojans' offense to a half-dozen goals.
