It was the first time it happened in Joey Spallina's career, and it definitely isn't going to be the last time.
The Team 91 2020 Crush and 2022 Smash attackman and Mount Sinai freshman put up a season-high 13 points to forge him past the 100-point plateau for the first time in his career as the Mustangs rolled past East Islip, 19-7.
“I don’t like to think as I play — I just like to do it,” Spallina told Newsday's Gene Morris. “If there’s a play there, I’ll try it, but those kind of flashy plays just kind of come in the flow of the game. I like to not do the same things all the time, too, and not be robotic.”
Spallina, who leads all of Long Island with 113 points, rang up five goals and eight assists. Brandon Ventarola ('21 Blaze) added a hat trick and Tyler Gatz ('21 Blaze) chipped in two goals and an assist in the rout. John Sidorski (Lehigh) put up two goals and two assists for East Islip.
Glenn 12, Kings Park 9: Justin Tiernan ('19 Orange/Lehigh) barrelled through the 100-point mark... again with three goals and an assist to pace Glenn. Cory Capri ('20 Orange) tacked on a goal and two helpers to hit the 70-point plateau. Christian Michaels ('19 White/UMBC) tossed aside 15 shots sent his way for Kings Park, including his 600th career stop.
Half Hollow Hills West 9, Comsewogue 7: Christian Mulé ('19 Orange/Duke) buried three goals to go with three assists to hit the 80-point mark for the season and Danny Zabbia ('21 Ambush) tallied twice as Hills West grabbed its second straight win. LSM Gerald Filardi ('19 Orange/Penn State) also got in on the action with a goal.
Bayport-Blue Point 14, Islip 9: James Ringer ('19 Orange/Rutgers) scored twice and added an assist, JJ Aiello ('23 Bandits) tallied twice and Jameson Smith ('22 Smash) chipped in a goal as BBP rolled.
Sayville 17, Hauppauge 6: Nick Cannetti ('19 White/Florida Tech) hammered home four goals in Sayville's blowout win.
Harborfields 19, West Babylon 1: Nick Caccamo ('20 Crush/Yale) led a suffocating defense and also had a goal and an assist for Harborfields.
Delbarton 16, Morristown-Beard 3: Trey Sacus ('21 Blaze) put together a one-goal, two-assist day in the win.
